Here we go again!

It's a long story, but the short version is that the old blog is gone. I was trying to fix a problem with a google calendar I had created for Young Women. I linked it with my email address. When I went to delete the google email account to solve the problem with the calendar it deleted my blog. Ok, really it was Blake who deleted it - and he's still alive. We do refer to him as "Dead man walking." He told me to get in line. Apparently there are many people at work ahead of me.

He's emailed google in an attempt to see if it can be resurrected. Luckily a friend had lots of the text saved via google reader and my Mom had most of my posts on her computer email. I don't have the pictures with the text, I'll have to recreate that for my family history file. But, this is a good lesson to me to be sure to back it up more often on a hard copy. And the other lesson I've learned is that I probably shouldn't have Blake help me with computer issues when he doesn't feel good.

I'm sad that the old blog is gone. I still resolve to blog. It's the only family history work I do! I have to feel like I'm doing something. So...hopefully I'll get up and running again soon.

  1. So.... did you hear the one about "how many blondes it takes to delete a blog"?

Seriously though, I live for those family blogs. It is about the only connection I have with reality from the other side of the world. so Blog On! I love you guys

  2. I've had problems with my google calendar/gmail/blogspot too. Haven't lost my blog, but I have a hard time remembering my log-ins. I think it was blogspot that wouldn't let me use my gmail account as a log-in, so I have to remember to use my work email address, which I'm not lovin' because, you know, I like to leave work at work. It's a good warning to the rest of us to get our blogs backed up or printed off.
